HV05: The Stagecoach Arrived
"For my next painting, I decided to make a large painting on stretched canvas using oil paints and chose to work from a black-and-white newspaper photograph showing the inside of an old colonial tavern. While this was useful to get the geometry correct, I added numerous different elements to the picture including the chandelier, pewter plates and pitcher, forsythia flowers, wall sconces, and the stagecoach.
The image used for printing is from a high-resolution photograph of the original oil painting that I created on a 24" x 30" stretched canvas in 1977." -- Henry Vaughan
